Bacteria to save the day!

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill reminds us of the potential consequences of the need to rely on oil as our energy source. I know that I am responsible for the spill as much as BP is. I drive a car, run my air conditioner, do not have solar panels (yet). And I don’t want to pay a lot for my energy.

There was an article out recently about using bacteria to make fuel. These bacteria would actually make fuel from sunlight and carbon dioxide exhaust from power plants. Additionally:

The organism can grow in bodies of water unfit for drinking or on land that is useless for farming, according to the company, Joule Unlimited of Cambridge, Mass.

Bacteria for the WIN!!! Not all superbugs are bad.
